    Testing - another option

    DNA Direct , Inc.

Perhaps you would really like to get tested, but the idea of going through a lab doing research just does not interest you.

Perhaps you do not want the information sent to your doctor for inclusion in your medical records.

Perhaps you are willing to pay for it.

DNA Direct is a private lab testing individuals for multiple genetic diseases including breast cancer and Alpha 1. You deal with them only and this includes a Genetic Counselor who discusses your lab results. You pay them directly. No one else is involved unless you want them to be.

For more information about DNA Direct go to:

    Alpha-1 International Registry

The Alpha 1 International Registry offers free confidential testing for Alpha-1. In addition, one may sign up for the registry. This registry is used for research into the disease, including sibling studies. Those who choose to participate in the AIR must first sign a comprehensive consent document. Dr. Edward Campbell is the principal investigator and will answer any questions you have regarding this confidential registry. The web site includes his contact information.
